The pricing on pickups has become a complete joke.... over $50,000 for a Ford pickup?

Cheaper to live in a truck than a foreclosed house. Can run from the payments until running out of gas.

So after they offer all these incentives and rebates, do the manufacturers actually make any money building these cars?
Oh wait, it's led by Government Motors, and their largest stockholder doesn't care if they make money since the investment money wasn't theirs to begin with. Just make jobs, pump up the numbers so the politicians can look good. At least between now and November.

But alex935, if the bloody govt doesn't buy Govt Motors boondoggle cars, Govt Motors can't "make" any money. So the govt needs to run the taxpayers trhough the lemon squeezer once more to spend the money to maybe get the original dough back. And don't forget, the taxpayer "gets the original money" back when the govt sells its stake in Govt Motors, a task PT Barnum would back away from.
If you believe this, your name is Krugman, who won his Nobel prize for spitting in Geo W.'s eye---and for no other reason.

Maybe the public is snubbing their noses at the green initiative and artificial spike in prices caused by the Administration and the Fed's QE3....

No Government Motors purchases until or unless all $15 billion in taxpayer loss is repaid.

This, along with high rebates, tells me that "retail" prices are artificially high. Just lower the retail and forget the rebates. The sales tax would be lower. A $1000 rebate nets only $934.58 because of a 7% sales tax.

New cars are just so overpriced what with union costs etc. Car mfgrs just cannot produce them cheap enough to make any money on sales.

people want what they want, and it is dumb, to keep building large cars and trucks.. unless it is for industrial use, or commercial.. they should not be making this stuff.. fuel is too much, mileage is too low.. and they wear out like everything else.. where are the small fuel effient cars and trucks? Natural gas, lp gas powered? electric? come on it can be done..

Better mileage, Lower fuel prices means more sales. Guess if they want better sales they ought to have a word or two with Big Oil.
