Ford survey shows employees optimistic about future

Detnews.com -- Bryce G. Hoffman / The Detroit News

Ford Motor Co.'s latest internal employee survey shows morale is up sharply and employees' confidence in the company's future has reached an all-time high.

That is according to Ford's latest quarterly report card, a copy of which was obtained by The Detroit News.

It shows that 89 percent of employees have a positive outlook, compared to less than 55 percent in the middle of 2008. The survey was conducted in December.

"It's a very positive reflection of employee confidence in Ford," said spokeswoman Marcey Evans, who confirmed the authenticity of the report. "It reflects their confidence in our company and their confidence in our products."

The December results were 2 percentage points higher than the previous survey, conducted last June.

cutter1330 - I am not in the same position as you but I see the pain around the country and I worry about our future too. My biggest concern is that not only is our government creating short term problems but they are also burdening our children and grandchildren economically.

Folks I have a job, haven't been laid off,
haven't had my hours cut and I'm not
optimistic about much yet. Pump price shooting
up will shoot down the economy. Forced health
care, and being OWNED by China and my great
grand kids will finish paying that off.
Ford's workers are confident that's good,
the rest of the country needs to feel that way.

When it comes to futures, FORD is #1. With all that is happening in the world. Ford can leave everyone in the dust.

Ford has been doing better than the other domestic automakers since their cars have the fewest problems of any of the domestic automakers.

well of course Ford workers should be happy. It is the last REAL remaining all true American privately owned car manufacturer. O'Bummer and his "gang" own 30 % of Chrysler and 60 % of Government Motors (GM). Can't remember anytime in 200 plus year history of this country that any business the government got its mitts into ever succeeded. This includes a "ranch" (better known as a brothel) in Nevada they took over for non payment of taxes.

ah, ya, those employees that still have a job are much more up beat.

I'm pretty sure if they polled GM factories - excluding those with announced closures planned to take place shortly, that the results would be similar.

Take any place of employment, announce a lay off of half the workforce, survey the workers, then several months after the layoffs survey again and compare the results. I am pretty sure they are going to be more upbeat.

Ford is doing great with excellent designs and high quality. It is much better to purchase a vehicle made by satisfied employees. Now if Ford could shift more of their workforce back to the USA! It is not a comfort to know most of their Fusions and Focuses are assembled in Mexico! It is even less comforting to know their Shelby and Mustang GT six speed manual transmissions are also made in Mexico!!! Come on Ford, please become a real USA manufacturer once again!

They should be. But they should not get overconfident. That's what lead to the troubles they've had over the last decade.
