Donatelo, we don't export our oil. It's currently against federal law to do so.

Oil may crash to $50, but gas prices will remain high thanks to the lack of attention by our legislators.

The first Peak Oil projection was proposed by M King Hubbert in 1956 but was based on recovery and production technologies back at the time. With advancement in technologies, new Peak Oil curves should be produced.

Stanzione is a con artist/market manipulator. Not gonna happen, folks. When crude falls on the world market, China will simply snap it up to drive spot market prices higher. As to Stanzione's "market prediction?" Yeah, right...he and about 5,000,000 other "analysts" said the same, exact thing.

99 dakota is right on! I was told the water level in lake Erie was going to be too low for ship navigation by the 70s, by the late 80s there were lakeside cottages being washed out by high water.
The experts program their computers with current trends, and add variables that they consider likely. This is why weather forecasts are only considered accurate for 5 days in the future.
There is SOME junk science out there, and some predictions on the economy and energy are way off. How many news items have you heard that begin with " Economists were suprised"? Some predictions are later proven so totally false that one begins to think they are propaganda meant to condition us to being exploited by Wall street.

Peak oil one year, lots of oil a few years later. Global cooling alarms in the 70's, global warming alarms a decade or two later. The "experts" really are not that expert after all...

We need better energy efficient/hybrid cars. Electric cars need to be made more efficient in cold weather and the batteries need to last longer and have better guarantees. Forcing the population with old, gas gusler's to buy more energy efficient cars would be a bonus.

It's only a matter of what that translates into gasoline cost per gallon that counts.

Lots of luck with that hopeful thought. We could be energy independent OK but the world price of oil will still influence domestic oil which may be a good thing in the big picture. But I think oil will steady out at about 80 bucks by then...depending on the diminishing value of the dollar.
