I have heard that also about Midwestern trains. I have traveled several times recently on trains, and have had good experiences. But i am on the East coast. I have been told they must maintain them better.

depends on where you are going on the train...my trip to DC was cheap It was relaxing...only a few hrs more than if I drove and did not have to deal with hassel lof I-95
