What is your opinion about the missionaries that went down to South America to teach headhunters about Christ. They arrived during one of the headhunter festivals to their god, where three nights out of the year they dance around a large fire, with heads hanging everywhere, and sing to their headhunter god.

The missionaries taught them about Christ and his sacrifice for them. They also taught them about how John the baptist prepared the way for Jesus and that he was beheaded. They told them they could continue with their three day festival in memory of John's beheading, but not to do it for the headhunter god, do it in honor of Christ. With the fire, dancing, singing, and fake heads of course.

What is your opinion of this?

Hi guys. Um, I think there has been a bit of ethnic slurring here. Yeah, there were a lot of jokes about headhunters and missionaries years ago (see below), but I hoped all that ended when real knowledge regarding the many Amazonian tribes came to light. Of course you have to accept modern anthropological methodology, be literate, and be open to the discoveries of others for any of this to make sense.

In this story, after cooking a couple of missionaries, the headhunters had their big feast.

Terrible food, said the Chief to the Chef.

What's the problem? said the Chef. I cut their heads off, I stuck them in the pot, and I boiled them just like always. What's the problem.

What were they wearing? asked the Shaman.

The usual. Black robes.

What kind of belt? asked the Shaman.

A rope.

You idiot! the Shaman said to the Chef. They were Friars!

Bigtrevor, at least one person gets it.I posted this on the Christianity forum and no responses.

They don't want to admit they've adopted pagan days to worship God.

God says he hates it.

I know you probably don't believe in God, so I'm stating my opinions, not indisputable facts.

Sounds like they co-opted a pagan celebration, just like 90% of the rest of Christianity.
